Water Conservation:
Together, we can make a difference
Sweetwater Authority customers are already some of the most
water-efficient residents in San Diego County. Based on average per
capita water use, residents in our service area use about 124 gallons
per day per person vs. the approximate 180 gallons for the San Diego
region. We applaud the water conservation efforts of our customers and
encourage you to continue your water-efficient practices.
Sweetwater Authority wants you to know we are also doing our part to
continue making investments in drought-resistant local water resources.
Did you know that Sweetwater Authority is considered to have the most
reliable water resources of any district in the San Diego region? With
its surface water, wells and groundwater desalination capabilities,
about 25 percent of Sweetwater Authority water supply sources are
drought-resistant. By 2011, with added wells, increased groundwater
desalination, and a seawater desalination purchase agreement, Sweetwater
Authority plans for about 55 percent drought-resistant supplies.
Living in this region calls for maximum water efficiency of its
citizens on an ongoing basis, and water supply management that
continues to explore new opportunities to increase water reliability to
ensure our quality of life. We think we’ve both done a great job so far,
if we do say so. But in times like these, we’re sometimes asked to pinch
back on usage a bit more; so if you can do so, it would be most
appreciated.
Water use audits and cash incentives are available to assist
customers to switch to new water conserving devices. Please call
619-409-6883 for more information. Visit Sweetwater's
conservation page or

Building a fence or installing concrete?
Building a fence or installing concrete improvements? Please call your
local city or county Engineering Department to verify where your
property line is in relationship to the curb and check for utility
easements before building.
Please make sure your water meter is kept clear of walls, fences,
vehicles, debris, shrubs, and other materials.
These objects make it difficult for our Customer Service Representatives
to access the meter box for reading or maintenance. Most residential
meters are located inside cement boxes in the sidewalk or near the curb
at the front of the property. For additional information about your
meter box, please call Customer Service at 619-420-1413.
