FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCAL RESIDENTS WARNED OF PHONY “WATER REPRESENTATIVES”

National City residents are asked to contact Sweetwater Authority if anyone asks to be let into their home to test water or water pressure. A woman in the 1700 block of C Avenue in National City reported on June 7, 1999 that a man posing as a Sweetwater Authority employee tried to gain entry into her house.  He claimed that he had received a report of too much bleach or chlorine in her water or of dirty water.

If anyone working for or with Sweetwater Authority needs to enter your home, they will have an official identification, they will be with a second Sweetwater Authority employee, and they will wait for you to call our office. Please telephone 420-1413 to verify employment.

In the past, other incidents have been reported. In at least two incidents, San Diego residents were robbed.
