REYNOLDS APPOINTED TO WATER BOARD
The South Bay Irrigation District (SBID) Board has appointed Richard Reynolds, a certified professional engineer and former water agency general manager, to represent Chula Vista residents living in SBID Division 4. The Division roughly encompasses the area between C Street and Orange Avenue, and between 4th Avenue and Hilltop Avenue.
As part of his duties, Reynolds will also serve on the Governing Board of Sweetwater Authority, a public agency that provides water service to 177,000 residents of National City, Bonita, and western and central Chula Vista.
Reynolds has been a Chula Vista resident since 1955 and holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management. His 36-year career included 15 years in professional and consulting work for Sweetwater Authority, 12 years as General Partner in the firm of Phillips-Reynolds Engineering, Inc., and earlier positions with the City of Chula Vista and California American Water Company.
Reynolds stated he would like to reduce the impacts of regulations on local water supplies and costs, and said he wishes to protect the interests of individual consumers.
Editors’ Note: Reynolds assumes the term vacated by the death of former
Director James “Ski” Wolniewicz on July 12, 2003. He was appointed August 19, and will serve until the next General Election for the South Bay Irrigation District, which will occur in November of 2004. At that time, a Director will be elected to fill the remainder of the four-year-term.
