Sweetwater Authority Changes Parking
Procedure at Sweetwater Reservoir

Due to the drop of fishing demand at Sweetwater Reservoir, beginning Wednesday, August 4, it is no longer necessary to pick up a pre-authorized parking permit at 505 Garrett Avenue. Parking will be available on a first come first serve basis to the first 155 vehicles (those who already posses a parking permit are guaranteed a parking space). Limited handicapped and RV parking is also available.

Sweetwater Authority opened the reservoir on Sunday, July 25 for shoreline fishing along a 2.5-mile stretch on the south side of Sweetwater Reservoir. Anglers are welcome at the reservoir on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from sunrise to sunset. Fees are $5 for adults, $2 for children under 16, and $3 per car for nonfishing day-use.

Anglers must comply with California Fish and Game regulations for licensing and catch limits, as well as rules posted at the site. Facilities include parking, portable rest rooms and trash facilities. Access to the reservoir is via San Miguel Road in Bonita, near Sweetwater Summit Park, which is owned and operated by the County of San Diego.

Additional information on fishing at Sweetwater Reservoir is available at 619.409-6777 or click here.
