press releaseAugust 8, 2005 MORRISON APPOINTED TO WATER BOARD At its July 19, 2005 meeting, the City of National City’s Council appointed Vice Mayor Ron Morrison as the City’s Representative to the Sweetwater Authority Governing Board. Morrison will complete the unexpired term of Mayor Nick Inzunza, which ends in 2006. Inzunza resigned from his Board position on June 21, 2005. Sweetwater Authority’s seven-member board includes five Directors elected by division to represent the South Bay Irrigation District and two appointed seats from the City of National City. As a Sweetwater Authority Director, Morrison will vote on policies governing public water treatment, delivery and service for 177,000 residents of National City, Bonita and the western and central portions of Chula Vista. Morrison was first elected to the National City Council in 1992, and is currently serving his fourth term. A licensed general contractor since 1979, he currently dedicates much of his time to public service. Regionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for SANDAG, the Metropolitan Transit System, the San Diego Regional Solid Waste Association, the California Congress of Governments, and the National Council of Governments. Morrison will be sworn in at the August 10 Sweetwater Authority Board
meeting. Sweetwater Authority provides public water service to 177,000
residents of Chula Vista, National City and Bonita. -END-
