Directions to Loveland Reservoir:

To get to the reservoir take Interstate 8 east to the Tavern Road / Alpine off ramp, (east of El Cajon / Lakeside). Turn right onto Tavern Road and proceed south about 3 1/2 miles. (note that Tavern Road ends and Japatul Road begins) no turns are made. The parking lot to the fishing program is located on Japatul Road at the 11 mile marker post (3.5 miles south of I-8). There is no physical address. Look for a large wooden U.S. Forest Service / Sweetwater Authority sign on the right side of the road. Loveland is open daily from sunrise until sunset. There is about a half mile hike down to the reservoir. There are no concession services so you need to come fully self contained. Don't forget drinking water and sun block.
