On September 8, 2011, San Diego experienced a countywide power outage. During the entire outage, Sweetwater Authority’s drinking water remained reliable and safe for customers and there were no interruptions in service.
With the recent power outage, we suggestion checking your irrigation controller. When power is lost to irrigation clocks or timers that do not have backup battery power, they will revert to the manufacturer’s default setting, which might not be very water efficient. Since the power outage in some areas was extended, batteries may need to be replaced in controllers.
