Emergency Preparedness & Response
As part of our commitment to safe, reliable water, Sweetwater Authority engages in emergency planning. We work closely with local and state agencies to mitigate risk, and review our emergency preparedness planning with the state Office of Emergency Services.
Emergency Response and Recovery Plan (ERRP) (PDF) – An "all hazards" document for the preparation, response and recovery from emergencies that might affect any Sweetwater Authority facilities. The ERRP provides organized responses to emergency situations associated with natural disasters, technological incidents, and national security emergencies in, or affecting the Authority’s facilities and its service area.
Inundation zones – We prepare for the extremely unlikely potential of dam failure through coordination with the state Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) and other local agencies. The Authority carefully monitors its dams and performs routine safety inspections; the State performs annual inspections.
The Authority has notified those properties that may be impacted in the event of a dam failure. View DSOD's inundation maps to locate your property.
Take Action
In the event of an emergency, the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services will use the Alert San Diego (a reverse 9-1-1) notification system to alert residences and businesses on their landline telephone.
Register your cellular phone for Alert San Diego notifications.
