[ARCHIVED] SWA adds clean energy vehicles to its fleet

F150 Electric Vehicle charging at Sweetwater Authority&#39s Administration Building

Yesterday, the Sweetwater Authority (Authority) Governing Board (Board) gathered to see and celebrate the agency’s new electric vehicles (EVs). The purchase of these clean energy vehicles demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to sustainability.

The Authority took the initiative to seek out partnerships and funding to install charging arrays for the EVs in 2021. When the first shipment of vehicles arrived, a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Bolt, the Authority immediately put them to use in its fleet operations. Three additional EVs will be delivered later this year.

“One of our goals as an agency is to provide water to our customers while being mindful of our environmental impact,” said Board Chair Alejandra Sotelo-Solis. “We’re proud to be leading the charge in sustainability and getting ahead of deadlines for state-mandated zero-emission vehicles.”

The Authority’s goal is to continue to swap vehicles scheduled for replacement with EVs when available and appropriate for operational needs.
