On November 13, 2023, Sweetwater Authority presented its continuous commitment to community health and environmental education through a $10,000 sponsorship to Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center. The “Official Water Provider” sponsorship agreement, effective for the 2023-2024 term, solidifies the partnership between the Authority and Olivewood Gardens, and the joint commitment to promoting water education.
"We are excited about the ongoing collaboration with Olivewood Gardens," expressed Hector Martinez, Chair of the Authority’s Governing Board. "Our Board appreciates Olivewood's commitment to promoting health and wellness in our community, and we appreciate this partnership that helps us communicate the value of water to their students and visitors.”
Olivewood Gardens, a historic property nestled in National City, embodies a mission to cultivate healthy families and a sustainable environment. Through hands-on gardening, cooking, and nutrition, as well as science-based environmental classes, Olivewood Gardens teaches valuable knowledge to students and families in National City and the broader County of San Diego.
Olivewood Gardens annually serves over 2,500 students from the National School District through their school education program. The partnership with Sweetwater Authority introduces an added dimension to this educational experience, as students will now have the opportunity to learn about water efficiency and the safety of tap water, contributing to their whole understanding of environmental stewardship.
