Sweetwater Authority (Authority) is streamlining its procurement process in an effort to improve administrative processes and expand its reach to connect with certified vendors. The Authority has partnered with PlanetBids, a software company that specializes in e-procurement solutions, to launch an online vendor portal where vendors can search and bid on the Authority’s bid opportunities electronically. This collaboration enables the Authority to streamline the procurement process in an eco-friendly, accessible and transparent way.

By partnering with PlanetBids, the Authority is able to achieve benefits that improve the overall procurement process, as well as associated costs, such as:

Improved Efficiency: The Authority is intent on simplifying and expediting the procurement process in a way that removes administrative barriers for vendors and streamlines the workflow for Authority staff. PlanetBid’s digital solution will automate various procurement tasks, reducing administrative burdens and expediting procurement cycles.

Environmental Responsibility: Utilizing best available technology, public participation and a balanced approach to human and environmental needs are core components of the Authority’s mission to provide safe, reliable water to customers. By launching a digital procurement platform, the Authority will significantly reduce the consumption of paper, fossil fuels, and other resources associated with traditional procurement methods.

Cost Savings for Ratepayers: The Authority recognizes the importance of responsible financial stewardship. Through increased competition, greater transparency, and reduced administrative costs, the implementation of PlanetBid's software will contribute to significant cost savings for ratepayers.

"This partnership represents a milestone for the Authority as we continue to work towards a more efficient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective procurement process," stated Carlos Quintero, General Manager for Sweetwater Authority. "This new online PlanetBids procurement solution will not only streamline our operations, but ultimately help us find the most qualified and cost-effective vendors for our projects, helping us keep costs down and water rates affordable.”

"We are thrilled to partner with the Authority in their pursuit of excellence in public procurement," said Dave DiGiacomo, CEO-PlanetBids. "Our eProcurement software is designed to optimize every aspect of the procurement process, enabling the Authority to achieve greater efficiency, environmental sustainability, and cost savings. We look forward to making a positive impact together."
