[ARCHIVED] Last call for entries for South Bay Water's community logo design competition

South Bay Water Logo Contest

Time is running out to make your mark in history by designing a new district logo!

South Bay Water is reminding community members to submit their entries for the district’s logo design competition ahead of the August 28 deadline. The winning design will receive a $1,000 prize and become the official logo for the newly renamed special district.

Earlier this year, the South Bay Water Board of Directors initiated a rebrand effort to help the community identify more closely to the district, which serves as the governance branch of Sweetwater Authority - a public water agency that serves safe and reliable tap water to 200,000 residents in South Bay. As part of this rebrand effort, the Board of Directors invited the community to help create the district’s future logo.

The logo competition is open to any person who lives or owns a business in South Bay Water’s service area. Participants can verify address eligibility and see full contest details at www.southbaywater.org

“We encourage artists of all ages and talents to submit their entries for this contest,” said South Bay Water President Manny Delgado. “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible talent within our community, and for the winner to leave a lasting legacy in South Bay.”

Formally known as South Bay Irrigation District, South Bay Water was formed in 1951 to represent local residents and ensure access to sufficient water for those living and working in the growing Sweetwater Valley. In 1977, as a result of a public initiative, the district and the City of National City formed a joint powers public water agency named Sweetwater Authority (Authority).

Today, the Authority manages and operates the system that provides water to National City, western and central portions of Chula Vista and Bonita. South Bay Water acts as the governance branch of the Authority, providing five elected representatives to sit on the Authority’s seven-member Governing Board (Board). Two additional directors are appointed to the Authority’s Board by the Mayor of National City, subject to City Council confirmation.
