At its meeting on June 14, 2017, the Governing Board of Sweetwater Authority (Authority) appointed Tish Berge to the role of general manager, effective June 26, 2017.
Berge brings more than 25 years of experience in the water industry, including as Director of Finance and Administration for Rincon del Diablo Water District in Escondido and Assistant General Manager for San Elijo Joint Powers Authority in Encinitas.
Berge holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from University of California, Irvine. She has her professional engineering license in Chemical Engineering, issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Berge is also a Special District Administrator with the Special District Leadership Foundation.
“I look forward to working with the highly-skilled and adaptable employees of Sweetwater Authority to implement the goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors,” said Berge. “It is an honor to be able to serve the residents of National City, Bonita and Chula Vista in the role of general manager.”
The Authority Board of Directors chose Berge to succeed Jim Smyth, who has served as the Authority’s general manager since 2010. Smyth retires on July 21, 2017 after a nearly 37 years with the Authority.
