At the December 11 Sweetwater Authority (Authority) Governing Board meeting, Manny Delgado and Paulina Martinez-Perez were sworn in to begin their new four-year terms representing South Bay Water Divisions 3 and 2, respectively. Newly-elected Board Member Elizabeth Cox also took the oath of office to represent Division 5 of South Bay Water.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Authority’s Governing Board appointed Manny Delgado as Board Chair and Ditas Yamane, who represents National City, as Vice Chair. Their one-year leadership terms begin on January 1, 2025.
“The Authority’s Board will approach the coming year with a commitment to transparency and thoughtful deliberation,” said incoming Board Chair Manny Delgado. “These principles are critical to making sound decisions that benefit the communities we serve and ensure the delivery of safe, reliable water.”
The evening prior, South Bay Water, the governance branch of Sweetwater Authority, appointed its leadership for the upcoming term. Steve Castaneda was named President, and Elizabeth Cox was appointed Vice President.
Sweetwater Authority’s Governing Board consists of seven members: five Directors elected by residents of South Bay Water and two Directors appointed by the Mayor of National City, subject to City Council confirmation.
