California Superior Court Rules in Favor of Sweetwater Authority
Chula Vista, CA – In February 2025, a lawsuit was filed against Sweetwater Authority alleging various wage and compensation violations. After a thorough review, the California Superior Court dismissed the lawsuit.
Sweetwater Authority remains committed to fair and competitive compensation practices. In 2024, the agency and the bargaining units, reached agreements that resulted in updated Memorandums of Understanding outlining new salary schedules, enhanced benefits, and cost-of-living adjustments. These agreements were formally adopted by the Governing Board on January 10, 2024, and on February 16, 2025. The three-year agreements are in effect through 2027.
In alignment with California’s labor standards, including the minimum wage requirements established in 2016, Sweetwater Authority continues to ensure that all employee compensation meets or exceeds applicable state guidelines.
