Slight yellow discoloration of water in National City not a public health concern
Sweetwater Authority (Authority) is aware that there is a slight yellow discoloration in the water we are currently providing to customers in portions of National City. This discoloration is not a public health issue, and the water is safe to drink.
The slight yellow discoloration is due to scheduled flushing of the distribution system; the Authority flushes portions of the distribution system quarterly as preventive maintenance. The flushing activity can disturb settled minerals in the water mains, causing the discoloration. The minerals usually settle back down in just a few hours. We are working to remedy this issue, and apologize for any inconvenience.
