Slight yellow/brown discoloration of water in Chula Vista is not a public health concern
Sweetwater Authority (Authority) is aware that there is a slight yellow/brown discoloration in the water we are currently providing to customers in portions of Chula Vista. This discoloration is not a public health issue, and the water is safe to drink.
The slight yellow/brown discoloration is due to a fire hydrant that was knocked off yesterday evening in western Chula Vista; knocked off hydrants can disturb settled minerals in the water mains, causing the discoloration. The minerals usually settle back down within a day. We are working to remedy this issue, and apologize for any inconvenience.
