[ARCHIVED] Water quality information and updates

Water glass on table

Occasionally, naturally-occurring minerals and algae in the water Sweetwater Authority (Authority) treats, or disruptions in the Authority’s distribution system, can cause changes in the taste, odor and color of the water we provide our customers. Over the past week, there has been in increase in minerals in the water from Sweetwater Reservoir. This increase in minerals has impacted the color/clarity of the water. Changes in treatment have been implemented, and the color will continue to improve over the next several days.

These changes are not a public health issue. The Authority ensures that the water we provide to our customers consistently meets all state and federal safety standards and remains safe to drink.

For more information on the color and odor of your water, see FAQs here.
