On May 31, Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 606 and Assembly Bill 1668. The bills were developed to help California better prepare for droughts. These bills do NOT impact individual water users or accounts, but are for water agencies in California. The law will go into effect in November of 2023 and fines will be imposed on water agencies, not individuals. Sweetwater Authority customers have always been efficient with their water usage, and the Authority is confident in meeting the goals of the State. We will continue to evaluate the bills, and will work with customers to make sure that we are all using water efficiently.
