NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE GOVERNING BOARD OF SWEETWATER AUTHORITY

36-inch Transmission Main Replacement Project

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sweetwater Authority Governing Board will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of the Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) and the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP) for the 36-inch Transmission Main Replacement Project (Project) occurring within the City of Chula Vista and the community of Bonita. The Project would include the installation of approximately 16,500 linear feet of water transmission main and abandonment of the existing water main within the Sweetwater River valley. The primary objective of the Project is to replace the existing water main in order to ensure reliability of the treated water supply to Sweetwater Authority’s customers throughout its service area. The majority of the new main would be installed within proximity to the existing alignment, while some portions would be realigned. The project has been designed so that construction activities would remain in previously developed areas to the maximum extent feasible. If, after considering the Initial Study (IS), the MND, comments received during public review, and the recommendations of Sweetwater Authority staff, the Governing Board finds that the project would not have a significant effect on the environment; it may adopt the MND and MMRP and proceed to consider the project.

The public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 12, 2018 at the Sweetwater Authority offices located at 505 Garrett Avenue in Chula Vista, California. The IS/MND was prepared in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the 2018 Local Guidelines for Implementing the California Environmental Quality Act for Sweetwater Authority. The IS/MND is available here.
