[ARCHIVED] High School Photo Contest winners highlight importance of water in everyday life

Local high school students were honored for their winning photos at the March 11 Sweetwater Authority (Authority) Governing Board meeting. Nearly 100 students from the Authority’s service area entered the annual water photo contest, which challenges students to showcase through photography the importance of water in everyday life. The following students took the top honors:

  • 1st Place, Zabrina Urness, Sweetwater High School, Grade 10
  • 2nd Place, Stephanie Mauricio, Sweetwater High School, Grade 12
  • 3rd Place, Erick Gallardo II, Sweetwater High School, Grade 11
  • Honorable Mention, Jaliyah Journigan, Bonita Vista High School, Grade 11
  • Honorable Mention, Zabrina Urness, Sweetwater High School, Grade 10
  • Honorable Mention, Kaitlyn Vu, Hilltop High School, Grade 11

Black & White Category: 

  • 1st Place, Tiffany Mayoral, Hilltop High School, Grade 11
  • 2nd Place, Carlos Guerrero, Sweetwater High School, Grade 9
  • 3rd Place, Valeria Cano, Chula Vista High School, Grade 12
  • Honorable Mention, Rosa Marquez, Chula Vista High School, Grade 10

The winning photos are also posted at the Authority’s website at www.sweetwater.org/photocontest20. The photos will be on display at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center beginning in April.
